For referring clinicians

How to Refer a Patient to Dr. Peter Caron

Physical therapists, psychologists, counselors, and physicians send me patients whose progress has stalled. Here is how to refer one, and what you’ll hear back from me.

How to refer

Three ways to send a patient.

Call me, email the office, or use the referral form below. After we talk, your patient can book directly and mention your name when they do.

Who refers to me

Who I work well with.

Physical therapists

The back or neck that improved through a course of treatment and then plateaued.

Psychologists and counselors

The patient who is doing the work but whose body stays braced, with shallow sleep and a nervous system that won’t settle.

Physicians

Chronic pain, migraine, or a functional complaint when the standard options have been tried.

What I’ll send back

After the initial visit, I send you a short summary of what I found, what I did, and what I recommend next.

Working together

What to expect from me.

Talk through a case

Call me about a patient before you refer anyone. We’ll go through the case, and I’ll tell you what I would treat, what I wouldn’t, and whether it’s worth referring the patient at all. There’s no obligation on either side.

What I won’t do

I won’t treat around a problem that belongs in your hands. If something comes up during treatment that you should know about, you’ll hear about it from me promptly.
